Now hiring for Vineyard Manager to join the Tassel Ridge Winery Team

This full-time position is responsible for developing and maintaining the three Meadowcreek Vineyards which support Tassel Ridge Winery, all located within Mahaska County.

As a Vineyard Manager, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and provide regular updates concerning an annual vineyard operation plan that includes a budget, harvest forecast, schedule, and manpower needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop summer and seasonal staff in support of the season’s harvest-related goals.
  • Master operation of all vineyard equipment and arrange for maintenance when necessary.
  • Liaison with cellar and winery management to ensure vineyard operations align with winery and marketing events.
  • Provide technical support in the cellar by operating and maintaining the bottling line, pumps, flow meters, and other devices used in the wine-making process.
  • Provide or coordinate facility maintenance which includes analysis of lagoons and submitting results to the DNR.
  • Committed to working weekends and evenings as required.
  • Participate in a program of continual learning and skill development.
  • Effectively communicate and participate as a part of the Winery Team which includes regular attendance at weekly management and/or team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor based on needs.

Requirements of the position:

  • Degree in horticulture or agronomy and/or two years’ experience in a related field.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and either has or will obtain a CDL.
  • Has or will obtain a pesticide applicator certificate issued by the Iowa Department of Pesticide Regulation.

Now hiring for Seasonal Vineyard Staff

Meadowcreek Vineyards, an entity that supports the vineyards which support Tassel Ridge winery, is seeking to hire several team members for the 2024 season.

The season will begin in March and continue through harvest in September or early October. The position is responsible for all tasks related to the grape growing operations, including, but not limited to building and maintaining trellis systems, planting, pruning, weed control, canopy management techniques and harvest. With training, individuals will be expected to operate vineyard equipment, as well as additional duties as deemed appropriate by the Vineyard Manager.

Vineyard employees spend their days outside working in the vineyards and must be able to stand, walk, squat, and/or kneel for prolonged periods of time. The need to work in inclement weather, including extreme cold or heat is required. Candidates will also be exposed to different allergens, such as pollen, bees, dust, and different field critters.

Successful candidates with have or are in pursuit of a high school diploma or GED. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation are critical. Prior experience in a horticulture related position is preferred, but not required.

  • Monday–Friday, with possible Saturdays depending on the weather
  • 40+ hours/week; (work may begin at 6 or 7:00 a.m. and end between 4 and 5 p.m. depending on weather)
  • Harvest hours may begin at 3:00 a.m.
  • Pay at $12.00 per hour

Now hiring for a Sales Representative to join the Tassel Ridge Winery Sales Team!

This full-time sales and retail support position will cover an assigned territory located within the State of Iowa. One to two nights a week will be overnight stays in the assigned territory. Sales Representatives begin and end each day at the Winery, located in Leighton IA, except for when an overnight stay is required. All candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess a clean driving record. The ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds is required. Previous sales experience is preferred but not required.

As a Tassel Ridge Winery Sales Representative, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Make daily sales calls and in person visits to promote award-winning Iowa wine to new and existing retailers.
  • Achieves retail sales distribution goals by developing and managing a network of retailers that actively sell Tassel Ridge wines.
  • Maximizes sales opportunities by building new and existing relationships with retailers to help them sell Tassel Ridge wines.
  • Delivers wine that meets retailer needs and maintains our displays as necessary.
  • Analyzes the external environment and provides insights on consumer feedback, volumes, and pricing that is essential to enabling the Winery to establish future strategic objectives, goals, and product offerings.
  • Works as part of the Winery Sales Team to help ensure that all of our retail customers’ needs are met.
  • Contributes to regular sales team meetings.
  • Is committed to working weekends and evenings as required.
  • Ensures all activities follow and comply with ABD (Alcoholic Beverage Division) and other related regulations.
  • Participates in a program of continual learning and skill development.
  • Effectively communicates and participates as a part of the Winery Team which includes regular attendance at the monthly team meetings.
  • Weekly overnight stays.
  • Supports the team’s ISO 9000 compliance effort and actively participates in the quality program.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor based on needs.
