Tassel Ridge® Asian Seared Tuna with Avocado Salad

1 tsp sesame seeds
¼ tsp ground ginger
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp white pepper
2 tsp canola oil
2 6-oz tuna steaks
2 cups shredded red cabbage
2 carrots, julienned
1 English cucumber, julienned
3 radishes, thinly sliced
2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
2 Tbsp cilantro leaves
2 avocados, diced
Dressing (recipe below)

Combine sesame seeds, ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in small bowl. Heat oil in frying pan until oil begins to smoke slightly. Sprinkle seasoning mix over both sides of tuna. Add to pan. Cook 2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan. Allow to rest while mixing salad. Combine cabbage, carrots, cucumber, radishes, jalapeño, and cilantro in bowl. Mix well. Drizzle dressing over cabbage mixture and toss. Add diced avocados and toss. Divide salad between two plates. Top with sliced tuna. Serves 2.



½ tsp minced garlic
1½ tsp minced shallot
1½ tsp rice vinegar
1½ tsp toasted sesame oil
2 Tbsp canola oil
pinch salt
pinch ground black pepper
2 tsp black sesame seeds, toasted

Combine garlic, shallot, vinegar, sesame oil, canola, salt, and pepper in blender. Blend until smooth and thickened. Stir in sesame seeds.
