A photo of a bird’s nest nestled among some of the Edelweiss vines was recently included in the May ISU Wine Grower News newsletter.

House Finch (Haemorpous mexicanus) nest with a blue egg. Brown spotted white egg is that of the Brown Headed Cowbird (Molothrus ater). Cowbirds are brood parasitic. They lay their eggs in other bird’s nests. The larger baby cowbird will often push the small birds out of the nest as they grow. mlw 5-24-17, Tassel Ridge Winery – Edelweiss grapes.
