American Merlot and American Syrah are two dry red wines that amaze many of our visitors because they were surprised to hear we made these wines. Both wines were made from grapes imported from out-of-state and they’ve benefitted from long barrel ageing.
American Merlot is a dry red wine with red and black fruit and oaky notes on the nose. Deep in color, it has round, chewy tannins with intense flavors of cherry and blackberry, and a finish that hints of oak, chocolate, and vanilla. American Syrah is also a dry red wine but it displays light oak, plum, and baking spices on the nose with black raspberry, plum, baking spices, and black pepper on the palate.
For a special treat, try the Tassel Ridge American Reserve Merlot. This big, mouth filling, dry red wine offers hints of black cherry, plum, blackberry, baking spices, and toffee on the nose and palate. It was aged in oak for 44 months!
