While we wait for all vines to go into dormancy, we are finishing up our autumn maintenance tasks. We got the last fungicide spray done last week and now we have to clean, wash, and re-paint the Hagie vineyard sprayer as well as do our regular autumn preventative maintenance. We continue to replace broken posts and straighten posts where necessary. And, our vineyard team is gradually leaving us for the winter. Once the vines have gone fully dormant, we will spray herbicide in the rows where we will plant new vines next year. This will kill the grass and weeds well before we plant new vines in May.
Finally, we will start reviewing soil sample tests and comparing them with the petiole sample tests results we received several months ago. This will tell us where we need to fertilize and exactly what fertilizer we need to use.
