racking-11_Tanks05-150X150With fermentations now all finished, we’ve tasted all the wines and are experimenting in the lab with fining regimens we will use on each wine. We focus on those wines we will bottle the soonest.

Prelude is a candidate for bottling this fall. Jonita, our Cellar Specialist, is very pleased with this year’s Prelude blend of St. Pepin and Muscat. It is very fruity with a beautiful nose. It has very prominent tropical notes with floral hints and promises to be a very nice wine.

2015 Iowa Nouveau is being cold stabilized. It will be filtered next and prepared for bottling at the end of the month.

Jonita tasted 2014 Iowa Marquette from the barrel. It is mouth filling with big fruity aromas that linger on the palate.

Jonita tried Iowa In the Dark that is just now being released and while she was quick to admit that she is not a dry red wine lover, she thinks this is an exciting wine. It is made entirely from Iowa red wine. No more Cab, Syrah, and Merlot in this blend!
