If you haven’t experienced a Wine Dinner and Murder Mystery at Tassel Ridge Winery, plan to attend one soon!
As the Wine Dinner and Murder Mystery begins, the sound of merriment echoes throughout the room. Great wine and food are served with extra helpings of laughter as “characters” begin to share details about themselves. Three courses later as the murder mystery comes to an end, the suspects are hilariously identified. Laughter continues to prevail as guests try to guess “who did it” and enjoy how the “killer” is revealed.
This interactive theatre, where everyone plays a part, is choreographed by the actors and actresses from Jest Murder Mystery Co. who are great about helping people develop their characters. As they say with a big smile, while handing out cards with character names and descriptions at the beginning of the evening, “It’s okay to read your card!”
In addition to being a lot of fun, this dinner event is a perfect opportunity to try new wines before dinner. The three-course dinner, prepared by Tassel Ridge Winery’s Chef Frank, includes a salad, an entrée, and a dessert. Each course is paired with a specially selected Tassel Ridge wine allowing you to experience “food and wine pairing.” And, as diners at one table at a recent Wine Dinner and Murder Mystery discovered, a wine by itself many times tastes differently when paired with food. The Tassel Ridge Chocolate Granfinalé™ when sipped alone was not a favorite, but when tasted with the Turtle Cheesecake—everyone liked it!

Attend one of the Wine Dinner and Murder Mysteries in October or December and then spend the night at The McNeill Stone Mansion Bed and Breakfast in Oskaloosa (only a few miles from Tassel Ridge Winery). As you walk through the door, you’ll be transported back in time to a slower, more elegant era. Originally constructed in 1908–1909, the castle-like mansion, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has been restored to the splendor of days gone by.
