If you are interested in participating in a typical American small town Fourth of July Celebration, you can’t do better than attending Leighton’s event on July 1. By the way, the population of Leighton is 162 according to the State of Iowa map, so it qualifies as a small Iowa town.

The festivities will start at 5:00 p.m. with a dinner catered by the Lions Club and inflatables for the kids. They’ll have a parade, a band concert, ball park games, followed by fireworks at 10:00 p.m. The band is the Six Pool Band from Clear Lake. And, Leighton usually has one of the most impressive fireworks displays of any of the towns in the area.

Tassel Ridge Winery will be serving pizza from our wood-fired pizza oven from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Plan to stay for the Leighton fireworks that you can watch from our terrace beginning at 10:00 p.m. They are about two miles away and while you can’t hear the explosions, the visual impact is outstanding.
