While we harvested our first grapes on Monday, August 19, we’ve been twiddling since. So, when the vineyard manager was asked about his plans for this week, it was TO HARVEST SOMETHING! We’ve been testing and tasting all varieties for the past couple of weeks and we are hoping to start harvesting this week with La Crescent, Marquette, and St. Pepin.
This will be the latest harvest we can remember.
If we have down time, we will be removing mulberry trees that seem to love to grow right alongside our vines in the vineyard. We can’t just cut them off; they have to be pulled out by their robust roots. That is hard, time-consuming work!
