Planting started on Friday at Maple Woods, Newport Lane, and Meadowcreek. It has gone faster than we expected. We finished up at Tassel Ridge on Tuesday.

The vineyard team will tuck and tie the La Crescent and then tuck the Marquette. Both varieties have VSP (Vertical Shoot Positioning)  trellises so the vines are trained to grow vertically between sets of catch wires. The canes have to be regularly tucked inside the catch wires during the early part of the season.

Then, weather permitting, we’ll spray herbicide under the vines at Tassel Ridge Winery using our new Environmist sprayer.
