We planted a small number of Itasca and Verona vines last week. Both are new varieties with the Itasca being a white from the University of Minnesota and Verona being a red from Tom Plocher, a private hybridizer in Hugo, Minnesota. This week we are taking delivery of Crimson Pearl and Steuben. We expect to get them all planted this week and early next week.
We will also start routine vineyard maintenance this week. This will include removing suckers from Iowa La Crescent and Iowa Marquette and applying another round of herbicide. If time permits, we will get started with leaf thinning.
