On the website, we have a section called “Attractions” which lists by individual towns what these places are. Last week we began highlighting a few towns in the area. This week, the focus is on Pella, Leighton, Knoxville, Indianola, and Pleasantville.

Pella
Learn about Pella’s Dutch heritage, Lake Red Rock, plus lots more. Places to visit include: the Pella Historical Society (Historical Village, Vermeer Windmill, and Scholte House), Pella Opera House, Gladys Black Bald Eagle Refuge, Red Rock Marina, Vermeer Corporation Museum, the Volksweg Trail, Bos Landen Golf Club, and Pella Golf and Country Club. Shop at the North Creek Antiques. Places to stay include The Cheesemaker’s Inn and the Royal Amsterdam Hotel.

Leighton
Interesting places to stop at include the Frisian Farms Cheese House, Leighton Processed Meats, and Sunnyslope Greenhouse.

Knoxville
Knoxville is home of the Knoxville Raceway and the National Spring Car Hall of Fame and Museum. There is also access to Lake Red Rock. Other places to visit include the Pine Knolls Country Club and the Slideways Karting Center. A unique place to stay is Horn’s Ferry Hideaway.

Indianola
Experience the history of ballooning at the National Balloon Museum in Indianola, which includes a Children’s Learning Area and a research library.

Pleasantville
Perfect for race teams or race fans, the Springdale Crossing is a unique place to stay.
