I am feeling as though we’ve had two days of spring and now it’s summer. I think the vines are feeling the same. We have had a very long and cool spring that has left our vines about three weeks behind last year. At the beginning of this week, the buds were small but by the end of the week, we may actually have some leaves. The hot weather will result in quick growth and development.
We are continuing to hand prune the Edelweiss and we machine pruned the Sabrevois and the rest of the Brianna and St. Pepin at Maple Woods this week.
If we can get a day that isn’t windy, we will spray a copper sulphate and lime solution on the trunks of our vines to kill any fungus that overwintered in the trunks of our vines.
