The weather, while not perfect for pruning this week, did allow for a couple of days in the vineyard and we made good progress. The Sabrevois is located at Tassel Ridge and Maple Woods Vineyards. Because we didn’t need this variety last year, we didn’t prune it. This year, we’ll have to invest extra time cleaning things up in Sabrevois blocks.
We’d like to get out and do more mechanical pruning; however, the V-Mech system is heavy and the vineyard floor is very soft after 3–4 50°F days. So, that work will be postponed until we have better conditions in the vineyard. As soon as the ground has warmed up a bit, we will spray a pre-emergent herbicide.
