A swelling bud in the La Crescent bloc at Meadowcreek Vineyards
We will be pruning St. Pepin, LaCrosse, Sabrevois, and Brianna in Newport Lane, Meadowcreek, and Maple Woods vineyards this week. We will start spraying herbicide this week if the ground temperature reaches 50°F and will continue spraying the lime-sulfur mixture on trunks in Tassel Ridge, Newport Lane, and Meadowcreek.
Air temperatures are rising quickly now and while bud formation has just started, the vine trunks are transporting the sap up into the vine. Buds will start to swell soon and then we will be really exposed if we get a cold snap.
