In spite of the fact that it has been dry for about three weeks now, the grass strip between the rows of grapes keeps growing so we have to continue mowing. It just takes lots of time when you have 75 acres and about 38,000 grape vines. We will also be checking the tension on the top wires in our nine-acre Marquette vineyard and tightening them where necessary. This is important because we will mechanically harvest the grapes and we can’t do that if the wires are flopping around.

Because it has been dry for some time, we may need to water the 1,100 new vines we planted in spite of today’s rain.
