Oskyfizzante Iowa White won the Governor’s Cup Trophy, Best of Show “Other” award, and a Gold Medal in the 2021 Iowa State Fair Commercial Wine Competition. The results were announced on Monday, July 19.
This year, 113 wines from 21 Iowa wineries were entered in the competition and were judged in four categories: white, red, fruit, and other. The wines were judged by eight qualified wine judges. Each of the four wines that won Best of Show in their categories will be available for tasting for a nominal fee every day during the Fair at Grandfathers Barn.
Star Spangled White® won a Silver Medal in the competition. Both Star Spangled White and Oskyfizzante Iowa White are white wines made from Edelweiss grapes that are grown in our Tassel Ridge vineyard. Oskyfizzante Iowa White is a fizzy wine that should be served well chilled by itself or with some orange juice as a mimosa. Star Spangled White is sweet and is best served well chilled.
