We hedged vines on VSP trellises this week in order to assure that the grapes on these vines were exposed to light. Light exposure helps to lower acid and it improves flavors.

We have 17 acres of Edelweiss and these vines have not received much attention for the past five years. So, there is lots of tying going on. This task is going to take some time.

We sprayed fungicide on all of our vineyards and also carefully sprayed herbicide down near the ground on some vines that had lots of weeds around them.

As the week ends, we hope to be tying up and shaping the Itasca and Verona vines. These are young vines that are ready for their first “hair-cuts.”
