Cooler weather has arrived, reminding us that winter is just around the corner. Our vineyard crew continues to pull mulberry trees in the Edelweiss blocks at Tassel Ridge and we continue to cut down and remove old Edelweiss vines in the A Block. In the spring, we will train up two suckers per vine as the new trunks. We will lose grapes from one harvest but we should have healthier vines in the future. We are also cutting off Marquette vines as we convert from a VSP (vertical shoot positioning trellis) to a high wire trellis. This will be a multi-year project because we are doing just a few rows at a time. We’ll also lose production for one year from the vines we cut down.
