We have been removing suckers and tying vines to the trellis, under-vine mowing, and then weed wacking in all three of our vineyards. We are also removing trees that are growing where we are working. We are spraying to control Japanese Beetles and repairing damaged posts.
We will start working on harvest estimates for each grape variety and finish pulling petiole samples. We still have some fertilizing to do.
Harvest timing depends on when the grapes ripen, but usually that is in the last half of August. It varies a little from year-to-year, but Brianna is usually first followed by Edelweiss. Red grapes like Marquette and Petite Pearl are usually last.
