We have a lot of Edelweiss and Sabrevois at Tassel Ridge to prune this week but we are making great progress. We also will tie up the new vines at Tassel Ridge and also at Maple Woods. And, we will get the last of the vines at Tassel Ridge sprayed with the lime-sulfur mixture and the ground under the vines with herbicide. We will start mowing if weather permits.
As the weather warms, the vines attract various fungi that are present in the atmosphere once the air temperature increases. So, we will get our Hagie sprayer out and get it ready to start fungicide spraying by mid-May. The Hagie is a big machine and it allows us to spray four rows per pass. This keeps the number of machine passes in the vineyard to a minimum.
