We took advantage of the improving weather to start rough pruning of our Marquette vines on Monday. We used our V-mech system in which two operators ride in the “chariot” behind a tractor. The tractor driver is comfortable with both heat and air conditioning. The two operators in the so-called chariot are out in the open and are usually freezing. But, they get the rough pruning done fast. We are looking for some better technology that will keep everyone more comfortable.

We spent Tuesday and Wednesday cleaning out the canes that remained stuck in the Marquette trellises and then will remove volunteer Mulberry trees in the Tassel Ridge vineyard at the end of the week.
