We expect to finish pulling mulberry trees in the Tassel Ridge vineyard this week. When the temperature is below freezing at night, we can only pull trees in the afternoon after it warms up because the trees snap off at the ground and we fail to get the root out.

We are making a special effort to get preemergent herbicide down this year in order to control the weeds under the vines next season.

We will also continue cutting off Edelweiss vines in block A at Tassel Ridge vineyard. When we finish the Edelweiss, we will move to the Marquette at Meadowcreek and will remove every other vine in the west block. We planted the Marquette in 2009 on four foot centers in the hope that we could control the vigor better. We’ve decided that half as many vines is a better solution.
