Jonita Boyer, Winemaker at Tassel Ridge Winery, accepted the Governor’s Cup in a ceremony on Friday, August 13 at Grandfather’s Barn at the Iowa State Fair. Oskyfizzante® Iowa White won Best of Show in the “other” category and was the 2021 Governor’s Cup Trophy award winner. Oskyfizzante Iowa White is a fizzy wine made entirely with Edelweiss grapes grown at Tassel Ridge.
The Iowa State Fair Commercial Wine Competition this year had 113 wines from 21 wineries. 75 wines earned awards: one Double Gold, six Gold, 33 Silver, and 35 Bronze.
The Governor’s Cup will be on display in the tasting room at Tassel Ridge Winery for the next year.
In addition, Tassel Ridge won a Silver Medal for its very popular Star Spangled White®, a sweet white wine.
